As it was declared in the course of the Committee that the Bill (Reg. No6251) aimed at the regulation of the issues on marking of the foodstuffs that contain genetically modified organisms (GMO), through the legislative defining of the term "foodstuffs containing genetically modified organisms" and "foodstuffs produced with the use of genetically modified organisms" and also implementation of the norms regarding marking of such foodstuffs.
Moreover, according to the People´s Deputies, document envisages the reflection on a label of foodstuffs information regarding the genetically modified organisms with inscription "with GMO" only in case they contain genetically modified organisms or ingredients registered in established order in the rates not more than 0,9% from the total product mass in one pack unit.
In the course of the Committee sitting it was declared that such approach is used to the marking of products containing GMO in legislation of Russian Federation, EU countries and other states.
